With Valentine’s Day coming, love is the topic of the moment. When we think about love, we generally think in terms of who loves us and whom we love, both of which refer to others. But what if Valentine’s Day were really about falling in love with ourselves, cherishing ourselves, and knowing ourselves as manifestations of the Divine. 9 months of blogging and my 100th post…feels great. The journey so far has been a learning experience that allowed me to explore and nurture my culinary skills. Initially baking was one of my weakest point, but gradually it became my strength. What can be a better way to express my happiness on my 100th post than baking a cake. Zebra-striped cake made with patterns of vanilla batter and cocoa batter is one of the impressive looking cakes. It looks complicated to make but in fact its very easy to get the patterns.

One of my most fav mughlai dessert is Sewaiyon ka Muzafir. Muzafir is made with dry rosted thin sewai cokked in sugar syrup and topped with lots of roasted dry fruits. In my family celebration is all about having Biryani. In any occasion, a good Biryani is always the show stopper. Usually i make varieties of Biryani following my mom’s and grandmom’s recipes but today again for a change i tried making by following the recipe of master chef Sanjeev Kapoor.

This is a simple and traditional egg white pudding (kheer) which tastes almost like the famous Indian dessert ‘Rabri’. I had this first time when i was a kid and it was really hard for me to believe that it contains egg. The recipe got transferred from my Grandmom to my Mom and then from her to Me. The egg kheer is indeed a royal dessert and is made on special occasions at my home.

Mutter Ki kachori happens to be the most favorite North Indian snack during the winters. Unlike those regular lentil and spice stuffed kachoris, the mutter kachori is filled with a spicy green pea filling and is served with tangy tamarind chutney and also with bedmi aloo ki sabzi at various places in North India. If you liked this Indian snack recipe, then try making it at home and share your feedback with me in comments below 🙂

Mutton Dalcha is also commonly known as dal gosht in Hyderabadi Cuisine. Combination of yellow lentils and bengal gram lentil cooked with mutton pieces and later flavored with Mughlai spices makes a unique and flavorful side dish for Biryani or pulao. Apt for occasions, mutton dalcha is a one pot meal iitself. Slow cooked lentils and mutton leaves and amazing aroma and flavor that is not only exotic but also gives a richness and royalty to the dish. We at home, often make mutton dalcha with biryani and accompany with burani raita.
